When to verify

• Before you pay any deposit, including a “tarp today” cash ask.
• Before anyone gets on the roof or in the attic.
• Before you sign an insurance assignment or a same-day contract.
• Again if a new crew shows up who was not on the first bid.

Practical checklist

1. Photograph damage. Call your insurer if you have coverage.
2. Get the contractor’s ROC number and legal name in writing.
3. Search roofing or general here, then confirm on roc.az.gov.
4. Hire only if status is active for the class that matches the job.
5. Refuse cash-only, out-of-state plates with no number, or “today only” hail pricing.
